JERUSALEM, May 29, 2022 (WAFA) -- A group of Israeli settlers tonight attacked the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in occupied Jerusalem, witnesses said.
Amin Burqan, a resident of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, said the settlers’ attack was combined with the occupation forces’ raid into the al-Sumoud refugee camp in the neighborhood.
He added that citizens' homes were stormed and attacked with stones, vehicles were vandalized, and live bullets were fired at them.
This attack came amid simmering tensions in the city of Jerusalem as settlers organized violent and provocative rallies in the city's neighborhoods.
Clashes also broke out in Shufaat refugee camp to the north of occupied Jerusalem following an Israeli forces’ raid into the camp. Forces used rubber-coated steel bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas canisters against the camp’s residents, however, no injuries were reported.
