RAMALLAH, Monday, February 07, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Monday detained at least six Palestinians, mostly in predawn raids across the West Bank, according to local sources.
They said that a sizable military force rounded up two Palestinians after storming the houses of their families in Silat al-Harithiya village, northwest of the northern West Bank city of Jenin.
The soldiers forcibly entered the houses as they were firing stun grenades. They woke up the residents, conducted a thorough search before ultimately arresting the two youths and leading them to the jeeps that were parked nearby.
In Jerusalem district, Israeli forces barged their way into 'Anata town, northeast of the city, where they rounded up another.
The soldiers conducted a similar raid in Kafr 'Aqab town, at the northernmost point of the district, where they muscled in and searched several stores.
A 15-year-old minor was detained from Issawiya neighborhood, which lies on the eastern slopes of Jerusalem.
In the southern West Bank, Israeli troops detained a resident of Dheisha refugee camp after breaking into his workplace at the northern entrance of Bethlehem city.
In Hebron district, gun-toting soldiers detained another and ransacked his house in al-Burj village, southwest of the city, turning it topsy-turvy.
On Sunday evening, Israeli police rounded up another after brutally assaulting him in the vicinity of Bab Hutta, one of the gates leading to Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
