RAMALLAH, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 (WAFA) – A low pressure has entered Palestine early this morning, causing the temperature to drop to 7°C below the seasonal average and bringing rain, sometimes heavy, along with occasional thunderstorms and hail with the chance of snow flurries on high mountainous areas later in the day, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Winds are southwesterly to northwesterly, active to strong that could reach 70 km/h, and sea waves are high.
Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 6°C and a low of 1°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 5°C and a low of 0°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 7°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 12°C and a low of 8°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
A rise in temperature is expected tomorrow, Thursday, which nevertheless remains 5°C below the average with a chance for sporadic light rain continuing in the morning hours.
A further rise in temperature is expected on Friday and again on Saturday but the temperature remains below the season’s average by 3°C on Saturday, said the PMD, which warned people against frost formation on Thursday night and early Friday morning, high winds, flood formation, slippery roads, and low horizontal visibility.
