Israeli forces detain 15 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, August 24, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday overnight detained 15 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They confirmed that Israeli forces rounded up a Palestinian after breaking into her family house in Al-Masyoun neighborhood of Ramallah city.

They also rounded up another after storming and ransacking his family house in al-Bireh city.

In the southern West Bank, Israeli military vehicles stormed Beit Sahour city, east of Bethlehem, where soldiers detained another.

They also detained two brothers in a raid in Beit Jala city, west of Bethlehem.

In Hebron district, Israeli forces barged their way into al-Arroub refugee camp, north of the city, where they detained one Palestinian.

They also conducted a similar raid in Sa‘ir town, northeast of the city, where they ransacked several houses and detained four others.

In the northern West Bank, Israeli soldiers re-arrested two brothers after raiding their houses in Mirka village, southwest of Jenin city, as reported by Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office in Jenin, Muntaser Samour.

They also conducted a raid in Az-Zawiya village, south of the city, resulting in the detention of another.

Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, soldiers detained two others; one from Azzun town, east of Qalqiliya city, and another from Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus city.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
