RAMALLAH,
Tuesday, June 22, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Tuesday overnight detained at
least 25 Palestinians in multiple raids across the West Bank, according to
local and security sources.
They
said that Israeli forces conducted a large-scale detention and search raid in Qarawat Bani Hassan town,
northwest of Salfit, ransacking dozens of houses and
rounding up 13 Palestinians.
In
the northern West Bank, Israeli forces detained two Palestinians after breaking
into their houses in Jenin city.
They
also detained two others in a raid that triggered confrontations in Jenin refugee camp.
While
in the camp, the soldiers fired barrages of tear gas canisters towards local
teens who attempted to block their passage. No injuries were reported though.
The
sources confirmed a similar Israeli military raid in Rummanah
village, northwest of the city, resulting in the detention of another.
Furthermore,
Israeli military vehicles stormed Dhanaba
neighborhood, east of Tulkarm city, where soldiers
rounded up two others.
Meanwhile,
Israeli police detained five others after thoroughly searching their houses in Silwan neighborhood.
On
Monday evening, Israeli special forces rounded up six Palestinians, including a
former prisoner, from the vicinity of Mavo Dothan
checkpoint, southeast of Yaabad town. The detainees
were identified as residents of Jenin refugee camp.
Another
resident of Jenin district was rounded up while
inside Israel.
Israeli
forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the
West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians,
triggering clashes with residents.
These
raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian
Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and
wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under
Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and
judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank.
Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
