RAMALLAH, Sunday, April 11, 2021 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas congratulated today King Abdullah II and the entire brotherly people of Jordan on the centenary of the independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
In a televised statement celebrating the anniversary, President Abbas said “a proud, strong, prosperous and uncompromising Jordan means strength, safety and support for Palestine.”
President Abbas recalled the historical relationship that binds the two brotherly countries and peoples of Jordan and Palestine, and the important role that Jordan and its people have played in supporting the Palestinian people to end the Israeli occupation, gain their rights to freedom, independence and an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also praised the Jordanian guardianship of the Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, which he said has always been coordinated with Palestine.
“Once again, we renew our heartfelt congratulations and our sincere brotherly wishes to my brother His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, the Hashemite Family and the brotherly Jordanian people. We ask Allah Almighty to shower His Majesty with continued health, happiness and success.”
