RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 2,288 new Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 2,288 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 13 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 2,288 cases, 1,227 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 1,061 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with (286) cases, followed by Nablus (269) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (186) cases, Jenin (174) cases, Tulkarm (103) cases, Qalqiliya (55) cases, Bethlehem (47) cases, Tubas (44) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (30) cases, Salfit (21) cases in addition to 12 cases in Jericho & the Jordan Valley.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 12 deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and another from the besieged Gaza Strip.
In terms of the number of deaths, Hebron district was ranked the first among the West Bank districts with 4 deaths, followed by Qalqiliya, Tulkarm and Jenin, each district of which had two deaths, and Nablus and Ramallah & al-Bireh, each district of which recorded a death case.
She added that 1,839 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,598 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 241 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 209 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 68 who are connected to ventilators, while 692 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.
Recoveries account for 89.7 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.2 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 78,379 people have received the vaccine so far, including 8,687 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
