RAMALLAH, Friday, March 26, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,511 new Covid-19 cases and 16 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 1,511 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 16 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 1,511 cases, 894 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 617 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with (206) cases, followed by Jenin (163) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (153) cases, Nablus (84) cases, Bethlehem (80) cases, Qalqiliya (59) cases, Tulkarm (45) cases, Salfit (43) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (28) cases, Tubas (21) cases in addition to Jericho & the Jordan Valley (12) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 14 deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and two others from the besieged Gaza Strip.
In terms of the number of deaths, Hebron district was ranked the first among the West Bank districts with 4 deaths, followed by Nablus district (3 deaths), then by Qalqiliya, Jerusalem suburbs and Ramallah & al-Bireh, each of which recorded two deaths, in addition to Jenin, which had one death.
She added that 1,625 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,545 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 80 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 205 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 69 who are connected to ventilators, while 690 others are currently hospitalized across the West Bank.
Recoveries account for 89.3 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.6 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
Regarding the Covid-19 vaccination rollout, al-Kaileh said that 33,554 people have received the vaccine so far, including 6,045 people who received the second dose of the vaccine.
