Palestine records 2,032 new coronavirus cases, 23 deaths

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 2,032 new Covid-19 cases and 23 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.

She announced that 2,032 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 23 others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 2,032 cases, 1,518 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 514 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with (387) cases, followed by Jenin (282) cases, Nablus (231) cases, Tulkarm (162) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (155) cases, Bethlehem (96) cases, Qalqiliya (65) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (53) cases, Salfit (42) cases, Tubas (28) cases and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (17) cases.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 21 deaths from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and two others from the besieged Gaza Strip.

In terms of the number of deaths, Hebron district and Ramallah & al-Bireh district were ranked the first among the West Bank districts, with 4 deaths recorded in each, followed by Jenin district and Qalqiliya, each district of which recorded 3 death cases, then Bethlehem, Tulkarm and Nablus, each district of which recorded 2 deaths in addition to Tubas, which had one death.

She added that 1,665 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,516 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 149 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 206 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 58 who are connected to ventilators.

Recoveries account for 89.1 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.8 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
