RAMALLAH, Friday, March 12, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 2,309 new Covid-19 cases and 22 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.
She announced that 2,309 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 22 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 2,309 cases, 2,153 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 156 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with 532 cases, followed by Nablus (351) cases, Jerusalem city (326) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (225) cases, Tulkarm and Jenin, each district of which recorded (164) cases, Bethlehem (144) cases, Qalqiliya (96) cases, Salfit (61) cases, Tubas (41) cases, Jericho & the Jordan Valley (28) cases in addition to Jerusalem suburbs (21) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 21 cases from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and another from the besieged Gaza Strip.
In terms of the number of deaths, Jerusalem city was ranked the first among West Bank districts with five deaths, followed by Nablus and Hebron, each district of which recorded four deaths, Tubas and Ramallah & al-Bireh, each district of which recorded two deaths, in addition to Tulkarm, Qalqiliya, Jenin and Jericho & the Jordan Valley, each district of which recorded one death.
She added that 1,593 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,473 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 120 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 168 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 44 who are connected to ventilators.
Recoveries account for 89.3 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.6 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
