RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 11, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,291 new Covid-19 cases and 18 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh
She announced that 1,291 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 18 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 1,291 cases, 1,222 cases were recorded in the West Bank, with the exclusion of East Jerusalem, and 69 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Nablus district was ranked the first with 248 cases, followed by Ramallah & al-Bireh (220) cases, Hebron (136) cases, Jenin (130) cases, Bethlehem (127) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (96) cases, Qalqiliya (87) cases, Tulkarm (83) cases, Salfit (54) cases, Tubas (32) cases and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (9) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 16 cases from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and two others from the besieged Gaza Strip.
In terms of the number of deaths, Nablus was ranked the first among West Bank districts with seven deaths, followed by Tulkarm, Hebron, Bethlehem and Ramallah & al-Bireh, each district of which recorded two deaths, in addition to Tubas (1 death).
She added that 1,642 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,565 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 77 others in the Gaza Strip.
She pointed that 155 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 39 who are connected to ventilators.
Recoveries account for 89.3 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.6 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
