Palestine to receive 100,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine

RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 11, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine will very soon receive 100,000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine donated by the Chinese government, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

Speaking to Voice of Palestine, al-Kaileh announced that the Health Ministry would very soon receive the batch of 100,000 Sinopharm doses, which will help to start the mass vaccination campaign in the occupied territories, as she expressed her gratitude to the Palestinian ambassador to China Fariz Mehdawi and his Chinese counterpart to Palestine Guo Wei for their efforts in this regard.

She added that Palestine would also soon receive Covid-19 vaccines through the COVAX mechanism following high-profile contacts with the World Health Organization, while noting that the ministry has entered into a contract with global manufactures to purchase more vaccines.

This came as the ministry set up the online platform, http://vaccine.moh.ps, which will allow Palestinians to voluntarily register in order to take the vaccine, which would be offered free of charge.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 229,065.

Out of the 229,065 cases, 145,720 are recorded in the West Bank, 56,658 in the Gaza Strip and 26,687 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 204,066, including 24,256 in Jerusalem, and the death toll reached 2,427, leaving a total of 22,572 active cases.
