Palestine records 2,331 Covid-19 cases, 27 deaths

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 2,331 new Covid-19 cases and 27 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh

She announced that 2,331 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 27 others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 2,331 cases, 2,163 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 168 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with 487 cases, followed by Nablus district (418) cases, Jerusalem city (335) cases, Ramallah & al-Bireh (261) cases, Bethlehem (166) cases, Jenin (157) cases, Tulkarm (106) cases, Salfit (84) cases, Qalqiliya (67) cases, Jericho & the Jordan Valley (43) cases, Tubas (21) cases and Jerusalem suburbs (18) cases.  

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 25 cases from the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and two others from the besieged Gaza Strip.

In terms of the number of deaths, Hebron was ranked the first among West Bank districts with five deaths, followed by Nablus, Bethlehem and Jerusalem city, each of which recorded four deaths, Ramallah and al-Bireh three deaths, Jerusalem suburbs two deaths, followed by Tulkarm, Qalqiliya and Jenin, each of which recorded a death case.  

She added that 2,273 Covid-19 patients recovered; 2,194 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem district, and 79 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 153 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 37 who are connected to ventilators.

Recoveries account for 89.1 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.8 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
