Palestine records 1,826 Covid-19 cases, 19 deaths

RAMALLAH, Friday, March 5, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,826 new Covid-19 cases and 19 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai Al-Kaileh.

She announced that 1,826 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and 19 others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 1,826 cases, 1,680 cases were recorded in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 146 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, Hebron district was ranked the first with 377 cases, followed by Ramallah & al-Bireh (357) cases, Nablus (306) cases, Bethlehem (165) cases, Tulkarm (111) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (82) cases, Qalqiliya (75) cases, Jenin (69) cases, Salfit (52) cases, Tubas (48) cases and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (38) cases.

Al-Kaileh identified the deaths as 17 cases from the West Bank and two others from the besieged Gaza Strip.

The West Bank deaths were distributed as follows: one in Qalqiliya district, four others in Hebron, three others in Bethlehem, another in Tubas, another in Tulkarm, another in Jericho & the Jordan Valley, five others in Ramallah & al-Bireh and another in Jenin.

She added that 1,270 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,133 recovery cases in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and 137 others in Gaza.

She pointed that 150 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 37 who are connected to ventilators.

Recoveries account for 89.4 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 9.5 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
