Palestine records 1564 new cases of COVID-19, eight deaths

RAMALLAH, Sunday, February 21, 2021 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced today that 1564 new coronavirus infections, eight deaths and 988 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the past 24 hours.

In her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic, she said five deaths were registered in the West Bank and three others in occupied Jerusalem. No deaths were reported in the Gaza Strip.

Of the total infections registered, 1192 cases were in the West Bank, including 359 in the central district of Ramallah alone, followed by Hebron (244), Bethlehem (123), and Nablus (108).

Meanwhile, the West Bank had 497 recoveries, while the Gaza Strip recorded 150 cases. In occupied Jerusalem, 341 recoveries were registered.

The health minister said 81 patients of coronavirus remain under intensive care, while 24 are on ventilators.

Alkaila pointed out that the recovery rate in Palestine has slightly declined to 92.9 percent, while active cases scored 6 percent. Deaths stood at 1.1 percent of total infections.
