RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 17, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,432 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.
She announced that 1,432 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and eight others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 1,432 cases, 1,279 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 153 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Jerusalem city was ranked the first with 392 cases, followed by Ramallah & al-Bireh district (253) cases, Hebron (155) cases, Bethlehem (124) cases, Tulkarm (67) cases, Nablus (62) cases, Jerusalem suburbs (59) cases, Salfit (58) cases, Jenin (44) cases, Qalqiliya (43) cases, Tubas (11) cases and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (11) cases.
Al-Kaileh identified all the deaths as from the West Bank. They were distributed as follows: one in Tulkarm district, one in Bethlehem, two in Ramallah and al-Bireh, two in Salfit, and two in Jerusalem city.
She added that 960 Covid-19 patients recovered; 665 recovery cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and 295 others in Gaza.
The West Bank recovery cases were distributed as follows: 233 recovery cases in Jerusalem city, 127 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, 71 others in Hebron, 70 in Jerusalem suburbs, 34 in Salfit, 32 in Bethlehem, 28 in Jenin, 23 in Nablus, 19 in Tulkarm, 12 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley, nine in Tubas and seven in Qalqiliya.
She pointed that 67 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 24 who are connected to ventilators.
Recoveries account for 93.0 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 5.9 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
