RAMALLAH, Tuesday, February 16, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,043 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.
She announced that 1,043 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and six others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 1,043 cases, 918 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 125 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Ramallah & al-Bireh district was ranked the first with 206 cases, followed by Bethlehem (128), Jerusalem suburbs (117), Salfit (106), Hebron (95), Nablus (65), Tulkarm (59), Jenin (52), Qalqiliya (51), Tubas (21) and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (18).
Al-Kaileh identified all the deaths as five from the West Bank and the other from the Gaza Strip. The West Bank deaths were identified as two residents of Hebron district, a resident of Salfit, a resident of Jerusalem suburbs besides to a resident of Qalqilia district.
She added that 777 Covid-19 patients recovered; 452 recovery cases in the West Bank and 325 others in Gaza.
She pointed that 67 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 27 who are connected to ventilators.
Recoveries account for 93.2 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 5.7 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
