Palestine records 665 new Covid-19 cases, eight deaths

RAMALLAH, February 12, 2021 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 665 new novel coronavirus cases and eight deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

Al-Kaileh announced that 665 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and eight others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 665 cases, 548 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 117 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In the West Bank, Ramallah and al-Bireh district was ranked the first with 135 cases, followed by Bethlehem (94), Salfit (80), Hebron (74), Nablus (59), Qalqilia (37), Tulkarm (33), Jenin (25), Jericho & the Jordan Valley (7), Tubas (3) and Jerusalem suburbs (1).

Al-Kaileh identified the new deaths as seven deaths from the West Bank and another from the Gaza Strip. The West Bank deaths were distributed as follows: Jericho & the Jordan Valley (1), Hebron (2), Ramallah and al-Bireh (3) and Salfit (1).

She added that 635 Covid-19 patients recovered; 280 recovery cases in the West Bank and 355 others in the Gaza Strip.

She pointed that 56 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 19 who are connected to ventilators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 187,526.

Out of the 187,526 cases, 112,935 are recorded in the West Bank, 53,265 in the Gaza Strip and 21,326 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 175,258, and the death toll reached 2,110, leaving a total of 10,158 active cases.

Recoveries account for 93.5 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 5.4 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
