RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 10, 2021 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today called on the international community to support the Palestinian drive to hold national elections and to provide international teams to monitor the electoral process.
This came during a meeting Shtayyeh held at his Ramallah office with the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland.
The Prime Minister and Wennesland discussed in their meeting the latest political developments in the area and Palestinian efforts to hold legislative elections on May 22.
Shtayyeh told the UN official that he was pleased with the positive results of the intra-Palestinian dialogue held in Cairo early this week which supported going to elections as planned.
The two officials also discussed cooperation on providing corona vaccines for the Palestinians and the vaccination that is underway in Palestine.
