RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 28, 2021 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government decided last night to close the only crossing for Palestinians in the West Bank with Jordan, the Karama/King Hussein/Allenby border crossing, for one week in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus variants, according to government spokesman Ibrahim Milhem.
He said in a statement that following coordination with Jordan and Israel, it was decided to close the Karama crossing starting at five in the evening today until next Wednesday evening in order to prevent the spread of the virus variants, which spread faster and are more deadly.
Israel, which controls the Karama crossing, announced yesterday a ban on travel for the non-West Bank resident Palestinians and others through the Karama bridge crossing after it also announced the closure of its airport to non-essential travel for one week.
The World Health Organization has warned that the corona variants are more critical than the virus and urged countries to take measures to stop their spread in their lands.
