RAMALLAH, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 (WAFA) –Palestine today recorded 608 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaila.
She announced that 608 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and five others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 608 cases, 281 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 327 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Nablus district was ranked the first with 67 cases, followed by Ramallah and al-Bireh (65), Hebron (37), Salfit (24), Jenin (22), Tulkarm (17), Jerusalem suburbs (16), Bethlehem (16), Tubas (5), Qalqilia (4) and Jericho & the Jordan Valley (3).
Al-Kaileh identified all the deaths as three from the West Bank and two from the Gaza Strip. The West Bank deaths were distributed as follows: one in Jericho & the Jordan Valley district, another in Ramallah & al-Bireh district, and another in Nablus.
She added that 655 Covid-19 patients recovered; 290 recovery cases in the West Bank and 365 others in Gaza.
She pointed that 61 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 18 who are connected to ventilators.
Recoveries account for 93.8 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 5.1 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
