RAMALLAH, Monday, January 25, 2021 (WAFA) –Palestine today recorded 470 new coronavirus cases and five deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaila.
She announced that 470 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and five others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 470 cases, 280 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 190 others in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In the West Bank, Ramallah & al-Bireh district was ranked the first with 70 cases, followed by Nablus (64), Tulkarm (39), Hebron (23), Jerusalem suburbs (18), Salfit (17), Bethlehem (14), Tubas (12), Jenin (11), Jericho & the Jordan Valley (8) and Qalqilia (4).
Al-Kaileh identified all the deaths from the West Bank. Two deaths were identified as residents of Tubas district, two others as residents of Qalqilia district and another as a resident of Bethlehem district.
She added that 729 Covid-19 patients recovered; 317 recovery cases in the West Bank and 412 others in Gaza.
She pointed that 61 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, including 12 who are connected to ventilators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 175,416.
Out of the 175,416 cases, 106,050 are recorded in the West Bank, 49,834 in the Gaza Strip and 19,532 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 164,109, and the death toll reached 1,967, leaving a total of 9,340 active cases.
Recoveries account for 93.6 percent of total cases since the pandemic outbreak in March, active cases for 5.3 percent and the death toll accounts for 1.1 percent.
