Israeli forces detain 15 Palestinians from West Bank

RAMALLAH, Thursday, January 21, 2021 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday overnight detained at least 15 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to security sources and witnesses.

They confirmed that Israeli forces rounded up five Palestinians, including a girl, after breaking into and ransacking their houses in Kobar village, north of Ramallah city.

In Hebron district, Israeli military vehicles stormed several neighborhoods in Hebron city, where soldiers rounded up three others.

Soldiers also conducted a similar raid in Surif town, northwest of the city, resulting in the detention of another.

The sources confirmed a similar raid in Beit Ummar town, north of the city, resulting in the detention of two brothers.

In Jericho district, Israeli forces barged their way into Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, south of the city, where they rounded up two others.

In Jenin district, Israeli troops carried out separate two raids in Ya‘bad town and Qabatiya city, located to the west and south of Jenin city respectively, where they rounded up two others.

Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
