RAMALLAH, Monday, January 18, 2021 (WAFA) – Eight people have died in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours after contracting the coronavirus disease, 524 new cases were recorded, and 944 patients have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.

No data was available from East Jerusalem.

She said in her daily report on the pandemic that five of the deaths were in the West Bank and three in the Gaza Strip.

The West Bank had 287 new cases and 554 recoveries, while the Gaza Strip had 237 new cases and 390 recoveries.

Alkaila said 81 corona patients are getting treatment in intensive care, among them 22 are on respirators.

She said that 92 percent of the corona cases recorded since the outbreak in Palestine in March have recovered, 6.9 percent are still active, and 1.1 percent have died.
