RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 17, 2021 (WAFA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) started today in Ramallah dialogue with the general-secretaries of the Palestinian factions and representatives of political parties to guarantee successful elections.
CEC chairman, Hanna Nasir, informed the representatives of the factions about the timetables that include the legal periods for the 2021 general elections; including legislative and presidential, and the arrangements that the committee will make during the current and upcoming period in preparation for the elections, foremost registering voters as the first stage of the electoral process, which will be officially launched on February 10th and will last for five days, noting that electronic voters registration is currently available on the commission's website.
Nasir indicated that these meetings with the factions that are taking place today in the West Bank and are scheduled to take place in the Gaza Strip, come within the responsibility of the commission to enhance the participation of all factions and political parties in the elections, and to listen to their observations and opinions in the electoral process, which are necessary steps to ensure the success of the democratic process and the broadest participation in elections in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip alike.
The meeting stressed the importance of a successful electoral process, as well as supporting the efforts and procedures of the commission with regard to the integrity and fairness of the elections.
