RAMALLAH, Saturday, January 09, 2021 (WAFA) – Coronavirus in Palestine has claimed the lives of 26 people in the last 24 hours, as 855 new cases were recorded, and 1422 patients have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila.
She said in her daily report on the pandemic in Palestine that 13 of the deaths were in the West Bank, nine in the Gaza Strip, and four in East Jerusalem recorded over two days.
The West Bank recorded 280 new cases, with 59 cases in Ramallah district, 46 in Nablus, 34 in Jenin, and 33 in Hebron, while 647 patients have recovered.
The Gaza Strip recorded 347 new cases and 555 recoveries, while East Jerusalem recorded 228 new cases over two days and 220 recoveries.
Alkaila said 100 people are currently in intensive care, among them 23 are on respirators.
According to the data, 89 percent of the total coronavirus cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine in March have recovered, 10 percent are still active, and 1 percent have died.
The overall cases in the West Bank have exceeded the 100,000 mark, Gaza exceeded the 45,000 mark, and East Jerusalem the 18,500 mark since the outbreak in March.
Gaza deaths exceeded 400 people, the West Bank over 1100, and East Jerusalem over 150 people since March.
