RAMALLAH, Friday, January 08, 2021 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 23 deaths from COVID-19, 822 new infections and 1405 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.
In her daily report on the COVID-19 pandemic, she said 15 people died of the coronavirus in the West Bank, while eight died in the Gaza Strip.
On the geographic distribution of the new cases, Alkaila noted that 59 infections were registered in Ramallah, 37 in Hebron, 63 in Nablus, 25 in Jenin, 46 in Tulkarm, 24 in Bethlehem, 17 in Salfit, 11 in Tubas, 20 in Qalqilia, 6 in Jericho, and 15 in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem Governorate. In the Gaza Strip, a total of 499 new cases were registered.
Alkaila pointed out that a total of 4007 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours.
She noted that 105 COVID-19 patients are currently under intensive care, of whom 25 are on ventilators.
The Health Minister added that the recovery rate in Palestine has so far reached 88.6 percent, while active cases scored 10.4 percent. Deaths stood at 1.0 percent of total infections.
