RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 03, 2021 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila said today that 31 people have died of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. In addition, 1155 new infections and 1419 recoveries were recorded.
She said in her daily report on the coronavirus pandemic in Palestine that 17 of the deaths were in the West Bank, seven in the Gaza Strip, and seven more in occupied Jerusalem.
The West Bank had 532 new cases and 880 recoveries, while the Gaza Strip had 409 new cases and 280 recoveries.
In the West Bank, Ramallah remains at top of new cases with 116 cases, followed by Hebron (86), Jenin (79), Nablus (70), Bethlehem (60), and Tulkarm (48), Tubas (20), Salfit (19), the West Bank side of the Jerusalem Governorate (17), Jericho (8), and Qalqilia (7).
The rate of recoveries is currently 86.7 percent of the total cases recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic in Palestine in March 2020. Active cases reached 12.3 percent, while death rate stood at 1 percent.
Alkaila said 124 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, of whom 26 are on ventilators.
