Coronavirus claims 29 Palestinian lives, infects 1268 new cases in 24 hours in the West Bank and Gaza

RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 31, 2020 (WAFA) – Coronavirus claimed the lives of 29 Palestinians in the last 24 hours in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and infected 1268 new people, while 2056 patients have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila. No data was available from East Jerusalem.

She said in her daily report on coronavirus in Palestine that 15 of the deaths were in the Gaza Strip, which recorded 708 new cases and 990 recoveries, and 14 deaths were in the West Bank, which recorded 560 new cases and 1066 recoveries.

Ramallah district still records the highest number of new cases in the West Bank with 135 cases, followed by Nablus 80 cases, Tulkarm 79, Jenin 65, Hebron 62, and Bethlehem 49.

Alkaila said 118 COVID-19 patients are getting treatment in intensive care units, among them 28 are on ventilators.

She also said that the recovery rate since the start of the pandemic in Palestine in March is 85.5 percent, while 13.5 percent are still active, and 1 percent have died.
