RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 31, 2020 (WAFA) – The collective Israeli and settler attacks against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories and their property was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
Al-Quds said in its main front-page story headline that two people were shot and injured by Israeli soldiers near Jenin in the north of the West Bank, land was razed and 300 trees were uprooted in Bethlehem in the south of the West Bank.
It said, quoting Israeli reports, that Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank is out of control and that there are warnings that this could lead to catastrophe and killings.
It also said Palestinian residents of occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, who are threatened with eviction from their homes for the benefit of Jewish settlers, have petitioned the Israeli High Court to recognize their rights to their homes and to end Israeli government cooperation with settler organizations on this matter.
Al-Ayyam also reported on the Israeli measures in its main front-page headline and said that an Israeli court ruled to evict four Palestinian families from their homes in Batn al-Hawa area of Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem, where they have lived to decades, for the benefit of Jewish settlers.
It quoted an Israeli organization saying that 140 Palestinian families have had their homes demolished in occupied East Jerusalem by Israel this year.
It also said that the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem intended to link area settlements with the light rail.
The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, touched also on the Israeli measures in the occupied territories but decided to make its top front-page story about the anniversary of the launch of Fatah movement and the start of the Palestinian revolution against the Israeli occupation of Palestine 56 years ago.
Al-Quds quoted Fatah leader Mahmoud Aloul saying that the struggle against the Israeli occupation will continue and that victory is coming despite the difficult conditions.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that the Palestine Broadcasting Cooperation has launched an open radio and TV channel against settlements, which will be done every Monday.
Coronavirus at home and in the world remained to occupied space on the front page of the dailies with the figures at home still high as 21 deaths and 1539 new cases were reported yesterday in Palestine.
Al-Quds said in a report by its Washington correspondent that US President-elect Joe Biden has named Bishara Shuqeir, a Palestinian American, responsible for the distribution of the corona vaccine on the American people.
