RAMALLAH, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 1,561 new Covid-19 cases and 29 deaths, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.
Al-Kaileh announced that 1,561 Palestinians tested positive for the virus and 29 others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the new 1,561 cases, 1,045 cases were recorded in the West Bank and 516 cases in the Gaza Strip.
The West Bank cases were distributed as follows: 98 cases in Bethlehem governorate, 62 in Jerusalem suburbs, 166 in Hebron, 22 in Tubas, 131 in Nablus, 268 in Ramallah, 156 in Jenin, 39 in Salfit, 71 in Tulkarm, 18 in Qalqilia besides to 14 in Jericho.
Al-Kaileh identified the 29 deaths as 17 deaths from the West Bank and 12 others from the Gaza Strip.
The West Bank deaths were distributed as follows: one in Bethlehem, two in Hebron, one in Tubas, four in Nablus, one in Ramallah, two in Jenin, two in Salfit, three in Tulkarm and one in Jericho.
She added that 1,808 Covid-19 patients recovered; 1,178 patients in the West Bank and 630 others in Gaza.
The West Bank recovery cases were distributed as follows: 343 in Bethlehem, 174 in Hebron, 16 in Tubas, 108 in Nablus, 230 in Ramallah, 137 in Jenin, 43 in Salfit, 61 in Tulkarm, 52 in Qalqilia and 14 in Jericho.
She pointed that 124 Covid-19 patients are still hospitalized in intensive care units, including 33 who are connected to ventilators.
Recovery cases account for 81.8 percent of the total cases, active cases for 17.3 percent and deaths for 0.9 percent since the pandemic outbreak in early March.
