RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 20, 2020 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced today that 1427 new cases of COVID-19, 24 deaths and 1518 recoveries were registered across Palestine during the last 24 hours.

In her daily report on the pandemic, Alkaila said 12 deaths were reported in the West Bank and 12 others in the Gaza Strip.

On the geographic distribution of the new infections, the health minister said 151 cases were registered in Nablus, 31 in Tubas, 33 in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem Governorate, 190 in Hebron, 77 in Tulkarm, 133 in Jenin, 65 in Bethlehem, 24 in Salfit, 135 in Ramallah, 15 in Qalqilia, and 13 in Jericho.

In the Gaza Strip, a total of 560 new infections were reported.

Alkaila pointed out that 133 COVID-19 patients are currently under intensified care, of whom 35 are on respirators.

She said a total of 81.1 percent of the overall COVID-19 patients have recovered so far, while active cases represented 18.1 percent of the overall infections. Death rate stood at 0.9 percent.
