Weather forecast: Cold depression set to intensify

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 (WAFA) – The cold depression is set to intensify today, paving the way to cloudy and rainy conditions and causing temperature to further drop, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Occasional rain showers, which could be torrential, along with occasional thunderstorms are expected in the daytime, and will continue in nighttime. Strong southwesterly to northwesterly wind blows in daytime with occasional gusts, while strong southwesterly wind blows in nighttime. Sea waves are medium to high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 13°C and a low of 10°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 12°C and a low of 9°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 22°C and a low of 16°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 18°C and a low of 14°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Thursday’s weather continues to be partially cloudy to cloudy and cold. Sporadic rain showers along with occasional thunderstorms are still expected on most districts.

Friday’s temperature is set to rise, paving the way to partially cloudy and relatively cold conditions in mountainous districts and mild conditions in other districts in daytime. Cold conditions are expected in nighttime.

A further rise is expected in temperature on Saturday, paving the way to partially cloudy and relatively cold conditions in mountainous districts and mild conditions in other districts.

PMD warns people against the risk of floods in flood-prone areas, gusty wind, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility during the low pressure.
