RAMALLAH, Thursday, November 26, 2020 (WAFA) – Eighteen Palestinians have died in Palestine in the last 24 hours after contracting the coronavirus disease, 1906 new cases were recorded and 812 have recovered, today said Minister of Health Mai Alkaila in her daily coronavirus report.
Nine of the deaths were in the West Bank, six in the Gaza Strip, and three in East Jerusalem recorded over two days.
Of the new cases, 1110 were in the West Bank, including 202 in the Nablus district, 168 in the Ramallah district, 166 in the Hebron area, 135 in the Bethlehem district which is getting ready to celebrate Christmas, 137 in the Jenin district, 85 in Salfit, 64 in Tulkarm, and 56 in Tubas. A total of 532 patients have recovered in the West Bank.
The Gaza Strip recorded 656 new cases and 210 recoveries, while East Jerusalem had 140 new cases and 70 recoveries recorded over two days.
Alkaila said 57 patients are in intensive care, including eight on respirators.
More than 80 percent have recovered from the disease since the outbreak of coronavirus in Palestine in March, while almost 19 percent are still active, and almost 1 percent of the total cases have died.
The two-week lockdown in the West Bank is expected to start tomorrow, Friday, with a full lockdown on this and next weekends, and a 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly lockdown from Sunday through Thursday for the next week weeks as decided by the Palestinian government this week following a sharp and unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases.
