RAMALLAH, Monday, November 23, 2020 (WAFA) - President Mahmoud Abbas and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed today the latest developments in the Palestinian cause.
During a video conference call, The German Chancellor stressed the importance of the Palestinian move to restore the relationship with the Israeli side, reaffirming Germany's readiness to push forward peacemaking efforts.
She noted that Germany is ready to arrange a meeting at the level of foreign ministers of Palestine and Israel with the Munich Group which comprises Germany, France, Egypt and Jordan.
Meanwhile, Merkel stressed that Germany will provide the Palestinian government with medical aid to help fight the spread of the novel coronavirus.
For his part, President Abbas thanked Chancellor Merkel for Germany's political stances in support of international law, emphasizing the importance of German efforts exerted through the Munich Group.
The President stressed that Palestine is ready to go for negotiations in accordance with international legitimacy, affirming that “we will continue to strengthen our relations with the Arab countries.”
"We are determined to ensure the unity of our land and people, to go to elections and achieve reconciliation, and we will continue to work for this goal," President Abbas told Merkel.
He also thanked Germany for the economic and medical assistance it provides to Palestine.
