RAMALLAH, Friday, October 23, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 513 new novel coronavirus cases and four fatalities, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.
Al-Kaileh announced that 513 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and four others died of it in the occupied territories.
Among the 513 new cases, 55 cases were recorded in Hebron district, 82 in Nablus, 46 in Bethlehem, five in Qalqilia, 41 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 32 in Jenin, 12 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 18 in Salfit, 37 in Tulkarem, two in Tubas, 96 in Gaza, 19 in Jerusalem suburbs and 68 in Jerusalem city.
She identified the four fatalities as a 55-year-old man from Beit Dajan town, east of Nablus, a 58-year-old man from Fasayel village, northwest of Jericho, a 82-year-old woman from As-Samu‘ town, south of Hebron, besides to a 62-year-old man from Gaza.
She added that 609 COVID-19 patients recovered in the occupied territories, and noted that 33 COVID-19 patients were still receiving treatment at the intensive care units, including five who are connected to ventilators.
According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 61,183.
Out of the 61,183 cases, 44,404 are recorded in the West Bank, 5,175 in the Gaza Strip and 11,604 in East Jerusalem.
Recoveries have totaled 53,925, accounting for 88.1 percent of the total cases since the pandemic outbreak, and the death toll reached 510, accounting for 0.8 percent of the total cases.
This leaves a total of 6,748 active cases, accounting for 11.1 percent of the total cases.
