RAMALLAH, Saturday, October 17, 2020 (WAFA) – While no deaths from coronavirus were reported today in Palestine in the last 24 hours, the West Bank nevertheless recorded 226 new cases and the Gaza Strip had 86, according to Minister of Health Mai Alkaila. No data was available on East Jerusalem.
She said in her daily report on the pandemic in Palestine that 156 patients have recovered in the West Bank and 85 others in the Gaza Strip, for 87.5 percent of the total cases, while 11.7 percent remain active and 0.8 percent have died.
This is the first time in 52 days that no deaths were reported in the West Bank or Gaza, said the Minister.
The majority of the recovered cases in the West Bank were in the Hebron district, where 39 new cases were recorded compared to 49 in the Nablus district and 45 in the Bethlehem district.
Alkaila said 40 patients are still in intensive care, including six on respirators.
