RAMALLAH, Friday, October 16, 2020 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai Alkaila announced today that 397 new cases of coronavirus, one death and 442 recoveries were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.
She said in the daily report on the coronavirus pandemic that a 79-year-old man died of the novel virus in the town of Shuyukh, in the southern West Bank district of Hebron.
On the geographic distribution of the new cases, the Health Minister said 35 cases were reported in Hebron, 35 in Nablus, 34 in Bethlehem, 18 in Qalqilia, 36 in Ramallah, 20 in Jenin, 24 in Jericho, five in Tubas, 43 in Tulkarm, 74 in the Gaza Strip, 10 in the West Bank side of Jerusalem, and 63 in occupied East Jerusalem.
She said a total of 87.6 percent of the overall coronavirus patients have recovered so far, while active cases have reached 11.6 percent. Mortality rate stood at 0.8 percent.
Alkaila pointed out that 41 coronavirus patients are currently under intensified care, of whom six are on respirators.
