RAMALLAH, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 (WAFA) - The official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, today condemned the Israeli government's decision to build thousands of new settlement units on Palestinian territories, urging the international community to put a stop to what he described as Israel's settlement madness.

He said in a statement that the Israeli decision violates all United Nations resolutions, the last of which was resolution 2334 which considered all Israeli settlements on the Palestinian territories illegal, stressing that all the settlements are going to vanish and that no settlement will remain on the Palestinian land.

The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "is determined to go forward with its settlement policies to steal Palestinian land, taking advantage of international silence, free normalization, and blind support from the (US President Donald) Trump administration for the occupation and its settlement policies," said Abu Rudeineh.

"We warn against this Israeli policy that will lead the region to the brink of the abyss, and we call on the international community to intervene immediately and urgently to pressure the Netanyahu government to stop this settlement madness that totally eliminates any real opportunity to achieve a just and comprehensive peace to end the occupation and establish the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders," the official spokesman concluded.
