Palestine records 416 new coronavirus infections, four fatalities

RAMALLAH, Thursday, October 08, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine today recorded 416 new novel coronavirus infections and four fatalities, according to Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh.

Al-Kaileh announced that 416 Palestinians tested positive for the highly contagious virus and four others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the 416 new infections, 73 were recorded in Hebron governorate, 47 in Nablus, 44 in Bethlehem, 12 in Qalqilia, 36 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 37 in Jenin, 17 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley, seven in Salfit, 79 in Tulkarem, 51 in Gaza, 12 in Jerusalem suburbs and one in Tubas.

As for the latest fatalities, al-Kaileh identified them as a 66-year-old man and 73-year-old man from Tulkarem, a 51-year-old man from Kharas town, west of Hebron, besides to a 50-year-old man from the Gaza Strip.

She added that 631 COVID-19 patients received in the occupied territories, while pointing that 45 COVID-19 patients were still receiving urgent treatment in intensive care units, including 10 who are still connected to ventilators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 54,355.

Out of the 54,355 cases, 39,505 are recorded in the West Bank, 3,751 in the Gaza Strip and 11,099 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 46,551, accounting for 85.6 percent of the total cases, and the death toll reached 422, accounting for 0.8 percent, leaving a total of 7,382 active cases, accounting for 13.6 percent of total cases.
