Palestine records 683 new coronavirus cases, nine deaths

RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 20, 2020 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Mai al-Kaileh said today that 683 new cases of coronavirus and nine deaths were registered in Palestine during the last 24 hours.

She said in the daily press release on the coronavirus outbreak that 683 people were infected with the highly contagious virus, while nine others died of complications resulting from it during the last 24 hours.

The new coronavirus cases were distributed as follows: 115 in Hebron district, 86 in Nablus, 53 in Bethlehem, 20 in Qalqilya, 120 in Ramallah, 50 in Jenin, 24 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, 9 in Tubas, 16 in Salfit, 43 in Tulkarm, 45 in the Gaza Strip, in addition to 102 cases in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem Governorate.

As for the latest nine deaths, al-Kaileh pointed out that three women and a man, aged 50, 79, 64 and 72 respectively, died in Hebron Governorate, while four other people aged 67, 83, 84, and 61 died in Tulkarm. A 74-year-old woman also died of the virus in Bethlehem.  

She added that 254 Palestinian COVID-19 patients recovered from the pandemic in the last 24 hours.

Out of the recovery cases, 115 were recorded in Hebron district, 29 others in Tulkarm,  31 in Qalqilya, two in Salfit, 32 in Jenin, and 30 in the Gaza Strip.

She said that 42 COVID-19 patients are currently in the intensive care units, nine of whom who are on ventilators.
