Palestine confirms 966 new coronavirus cases, two fatalities

RAMALLAH, Thursday, September 17, 2020 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health said today that 966 new coronavirus cases and two fatalities were registered in the State of Palestine during the last 24 hours, Minister of Health Mai al-Kaileh announced in a press release.

She said 966 people were tested positive for the highly contagious virus across the country, while two others, a man aged 58 from Ramallah and another from Jerusalem, died due to complications resulting from their coronavirus infection.

The new coronavirus cases were distributed as follows: 185 in Hebron district, 132 in Nablus, 58 in Bethlehem, 23 in Qalqilya, 136 in Ramallah, 38 in Jenin, 26 in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, three in Tubas, three in Salfit, 39 in Tulkarm, 76 in the Gaza Strip, 118 in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem district, and 120 in occupied East Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Al-Kaileh confirmed that 959 COVID-19 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

Out of the recovery cases, 222 were recorded in Hebron district, 13 others in Tulkarm, 90 in Nablus, seven in Tubas, 219 in Bethlehem, 64 in Gaza, 108 in the West Bank side of the Jerusalem district, and 108 in occupied East Jerusalem.

She said that 32 COVID-19 patients are currently in the intensive care units, of whom 11 patients are on ventilators.
