Palestine records 353 coronavirus cases, four fatalities

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, August 05, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestine Wednesday afternoon recorded 353 new coronavirus cases and four fatalities in the last 24 hours.

Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced that 353 Palestinians contracted the virus and four others died of it in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Out of the 353 new confirmed cases, 158 were recorded in Hebron district, 20 others in Nablus district, 21 others in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, four others in Bethlehem district, five others in Qalqilia district, 14 others in Jenin district, 25 others in Ramallah and al-Bireh district, two others in Tulkarem district and 104 others in Jerusalem district.

Meanwhile, al-Kaileh confirmed four Palestinians died due to the highly contagious virus in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 91.

Two of the four fatalities, identified as a 70-year-old man from Jericho and a 61-year-old man from Yatta town, south of Hebron, died on Wednesday morning.

The other two fatalities, identified as a 57-year-old man from Beit Awwa town, west of Hebron, and a 68-year-old man from Beit Ula town, northwest of Hebron, died on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, al-Kaileh pointed out that 199 recovery cases were recorded in the occupied territories in the last 24 hours.

Out of the 199 recovery cases, 32 cases were recorded in Nablus district,

She added that 13 COVID-19 patients remain in the intensive care units, including three who are connected to respirators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 16,981.

Out of the 16,981 cases, 12,987 are recorded in the West Bank, 78 in the Gaza Strip and 3,916 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 8,128, including 1,510 in Jerusalem, leaving a total of 8,762 active cases.
