74-year-old among 16 Palestinians detained from West Bank

 

HEBRON, Monday, July 22, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained today 16 Palestinians, including a 74-year-old elderly man, from various parts of the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

Israeli forces detained seven Palestinians from the southern West Bank of Hebron, it said.

Security sources elaborated that two of the seven, including an undergraduate student, were detained from al-Shuyoukh town, east of Hebron, two others from Dura town, southwest of Hebron, and another from al-Fawwar refugee camp.

Another Palestinian from the seven was identified as an undergraduate student from Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron.

Meanwhile, PPS said that Israeli forces rounded up three Palestinians from Ramallah district.

Local sources elaborated that Israeli military vehicles raided Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, where soldiers detained two Palestinians.

During the confrontations that unfolded, dozens of Palestinians suffocated from tear gas fired by Israeli soldiers.

In the northern West Bank, PPS said that three Palestinians were rounded up from Nablus district.

PPS also confirmed an Israeli military raid in Jayyous village, east of Qaqiliya city. The detainee was identified as Muhammad Taher Jaber, 74, a retired major general who suffers from a terminal illness.

Two others were rounded up from Qabatiya town, south of Jenin.
