HEBRON, February 7, 2018 (WAFA) - clashes erupted on Wednesday between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces in Halhoul, to the north of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, leaving at least 29 people injured, according to the Red Crescent.

The clashes broke out following an Israel army raid of the town, particularly at the family residence of Hamza Zamaara who was shot dead earlier in the day by an Israeli security guard outside an illegal Israel settlement near Halhoul after he allegedly stabbed another guard.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that 29 Palestinians sustained injuries from live and rubber-coated metal bullets, suffocation and severe beating. One injured from live ammunition in his hand was admitted to hospital for treatment; while 19 others who suffered from tear gas suffocation and three who were severely beaten by Israeli forces were treated by paramedics on location.

WAFA correspondent reported that national and Islamic forces in Halhoul mourned Zamaara and called for a general strike and mourning in town.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces released Yousef Zamaara, Hamza’s father, after they summoned him for interrogation and to identify his slain son at Etzion interrogation center. They handed him notices for his two other sons to appear before Israeli intelligence in Etzion interrogation center.

Hamza Zamaara was former detainee who served 14 months in prison for resisting the Israeli occupation. Two of his brothers are in prison.
