Ban on entry of Israeli goods into Palestinian market goes into effect

RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 06, 2020 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Economy announced that the government‘s decision to ban Israeli vegetables, fruits, juices, mineral water and carbonated drinks into the Palestinian markets came into effect today.

The Ministry said in a press release that the relevant governmental and security agencies will work around the clock to implement the ban decision.

The government decided at its meeting on Monday to ban certain Israeli products in retaliation for an Israeli decision to prohibit entry of all Palestinian agricultural products to the Israeli market.

Ministry figures show that Palestine exported $88 million worth of agricultural products to Israel in 2018, or 66% of the total exports, and imported $600 million worth of agricultural products from Israel in the same year, which is 71% of the total Palestinian imports in that year.
