RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 06, 2019 (WAFA) – The meeting of President Mahmoud Abbas with his Egyptian counterpart on Saturday made headlines of the front pages of the three Arabic Palestinian dailies on Sunday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida, al-Ayyam and al-Quds said that President Mahmoud Abbas met on Saturday with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi, in Cairo, during which he praised Egypt’s efforts and the importance of continuing coordination and contact between their countries.
Abbas said during the meeting that the “deal of the century” is not fair to the Palestinians, while el-Sisi said that the Palestinian cause will always be a priority in Egypt.
The three dailies reported that Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah spoke at a rally at the Ramallah-based headquarters of Palestine TV and called for by the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate and the Ministry of Information to denounce the vandalism of the Palestine TV headquarters and the destruction of its cameras, monitors and other equipment in Gaza.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Al-Ayyam said that the Israeli army told members of the Barghouti family from the village of Kobar, northwest of Ramallah, that they will be expelled to Jericho to the east of the West Bank if their son, Assem, does not turn himself in to the army.
Al-Ayyam said that the new Democratic congresswoman, Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who is of Palestinian origin, vowed to impeach US President Donald Trump.
