Ramallah factions call for protest on Friday at Israeli army checkpoint

RAMALLAH, June 28, 2018 (WAFA) – The Nationalist and Islamic Forces in Ramallah called on Thursday for a protest after the Friday mid-day prayers at an Israeli army checkpoint at the northern entrance to al-Bireh, Ramallah’s twin city, to coincide with the protests that are being held at the Gaza border with Israel every Friday since March 30.

A statement by the factions said this activity is intended to express rejection of American efforts to sell its so-called deal of the century, which the factions said aims at terminating the Palestinian struggle for independence by ignoring Palestinian rights for return and a fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The factions said that activities rejecting the US schemes, including looking at the situation in Gaza as a humanitarian rather than political issue caused by decade-old Israeli blockade on the Strip, are going to continue in all areas, including in Gaza and Jerusalem.

The Ramallah factions called on the Arab countries not to interact with what they described as the “poisonous ideas” because this would lead to grave consequences.
