RAMALLAH, June 25, 2018 (WAFA) - The Palestinian National Consensus Government Monday stressed that the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO); represented by the Palestinian leadership and headed by Mahmoud Abbas, is the sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

Government spokesperson Yousef al-Mahmoud said in a press statement that past attempts to bypass the Palestinian leadership were always doomed to failure, stressing that the US-Israeli attempts will not be more effective than their predecessors.

He added that what the US administration has gambled on; the threats and its biased policy toward the [Israeli] occupation were confronted with categorical and explicit rejection by the Palestinian leadership, which he added has turned the tables on US and Tel Aviv.

Al-Mahmoud explained that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s continued resort to spreading rumors about gaining the support of Arab countries for the ‘Deal of the Century’, and agreeing to the US declaration on Jerusalem, is only to cover up his and the US administration’s failure to promote the "Deal of the Century".

He stressed that attempts to influence the Palestinian consciousness through the distortion of the Palestinian leadership’s image will not deceive the Palestinian people or the Palestinian leadership, which has confronted all forms of fluctuations and adversity throughout history.
