RAMALLAH, June 21, 2018 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah met on Thursday with Maltese Foreign Minister Carmelo Abela and discussed the latest political developments and strengthening bilateral relations.

Hamdallah expressed his appreciation for convening the joint Palestinian-Maltese committee, which he said will strengthen cooperation between them in all fields, particularly trade, tourism and education.

He praised Malta for supporting the two-state solution and for voting at the United Nations for a resolution calling on the United States to rescind its recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

The prime minister called on the European Union to play a more active role in the peace process to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause based on United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative that would bring stability to the entire region.

Hamdallah briefed his guest on the Israeli violations, particularly its settlement activities, land confiscation and demolition of structures, some of them funded by the European Union.
